Trey Reed, Nature Is A Healing force
Coming into this class I under estimated the power of nature. While performing research for my paper I read many articles and books about nature and its power. The Beauty of Nature: Healing Illness, written by Jeanne (last name is unknown) is an article that talks about nature’s beauty and how powerful it is. It is intended to show the world that we all literally need to "take the time to stop and smell the roses." She stresses that the key is that "nature is a healing force." If we just take the time to appreciate nature we can see nature's true beauty. Experiencing nature acts as meditation for the soul and mind. This allows us to release more stress than many other treatments. “The expression to ‘take time to stop and smell the roses’ makes lots of sense… though most of us struggle to do so as often as we’d like. Obviously, ‘stopping to smell the roses’ is a great metaphor for slowing down, taking time for self-care, and simply relaxing. For some of us listening to calming music is very helpful, for some of us mindfulness meditation does wonders to quiet the mind, and can calm the body and mind down… Maybe our immune systems get a boost from allowing those stress hormones to settle down. Maybe our breathing is less shallow and we are getting more oxygen with each breath. I’m sure the list goes on. The key is that nature is a healing force.”
