Trey Reed, Liminality

Turner talks about liminality in his book, Image and Pilgrimage in Christian Culture. Liminality is being on the "threshold" of or between two different existential planes. In class, I could not grasp this concept. I didn’t believe that I had ever been in “between”, I was either one thing, or another. When Dr. Redick talked about it in class I really started to think and make a connection with the term liminality. To me, liminality could be something as simple as being a college student. I am an adult and on my own in one aspect, but in another I am still under my parents. That puts me in that in between state. After reflecting on it, you’re almost never just one thing. Maybe, that’s why I could not think of times I was experiencing liminality?
