Travis Bruns A Future Pilgrimage 4/22

This class has caused me to want to go backpacking. Unfortunately, it is contradictory to what I want to do with my life. I want to join the business profession. Everyone tells me if I want to succeed in this field, I need internships. Therefore after this year, I’m sure my summers during college will be filled with me commuting to a company.
Hopefully when I’m done with grad school and begin my career there will be a considerable time of liminality between them. I hope it’s a month or two. This way I could travel somewhere and explore it with my feet. Despite the Appalachian Trail being quite fascinating, I believe the Camino de Santiago would be an ideal trip for someone of my age. I would not be completely cut off from the world and I’d be able to connect with a completely different culture.
I feel the Appalachian Trail would be a great excursion for someone that just retired from their first career. At around fifty, one would still be nimble enough to last the long and strenuous trek but also wise enough to savor the wilderness. It also would allow for a man to reconnect with the finer things in life after a career that most likely had been filled with materialistic goals.
