This next entry will be a 2 part one covering my 2 different experiences at Gettysburg. The first as a tourist, the second as a camper, now I had been to Gettysburg before, it was always fun for me. I love History more than any other subject and this is fun because you can always learn something more. When I visited as a tourist I strictly tried to only experience things a normal tourist would. For example, I walked the battlefield, toured the museums and read all the signs. This left me feeling kind of hollow inside. I don’t know how people do that when visiting for the first time. I didn’t feel as if I was fully enveloped in the environment, which was often happens when in a special place, like a battlefield or where a historic event occurred. This was Gettysburg, not the mall, it shouldn’t feel like just another day at the office.
