This next day, we had all decided we were going to camp there, and then go on our own tour the next day. Now, camping at Gettysburg is like camping at a graveyard. There was so much carnage and destruction years ago, it’s impossible to shake the thought from your mind. While sometimes being overly eerie there is often that calm and serene feeling that will always make you stop and think about where you are and all of the unmarked history that you are standing on. As for my experience, I can sum it up by one thing that occurred while we were there. We had somehow wandered off of our main plan, and hit and unmarked trail. After about an hour worth of walking we stopped and took a look around to see where we were. We had taken a back entrance to one of the trails that marked pickets charge, and each of us all of the sudden stopped and looked at each other, we all knew exactly what had happened there, and that experience by itself was amazing.
