Laura Hancock - Eating as sacred energy exchange
Everyone has the same fundamental goal in life, to survive. One of the most basic things that we have to do to survive is eat. But eating isn't just simply ingesting food, it's a "sacred energy exchange". One life is being used to support another. An obvious example of this is when someone eats meat; one life was taken to another could survive. But even in cases of herbivory or taking milk from a cow, the other organism is losing (literally) part of itself or, in the case of milk, energy, to support us. We often forget this since food is so available to us.
