Over spring break this semester, I visited the Natural Bridge. It's a historic site off of I-81, and is basically a naturally made bridge over 300 ft off the ground. It's right in the middle of a valley in between mountains, and used to be occupied by Native Americans. It's also been visited by George Washington, and he left his initials on the side of the bridge. It has a lot of history to it and when I was there I felt a much higher spiritual power.
As I walked along the trail surrounding the bridge, I could feel a sense of the Native Americans that once lived there. I could imagine them working in the stream and hunting in the woods, then setting up camp along the riverbank. I imagined that they worshipped the bridge, because it gave a high power of nature, something like the power of god. I could also sense the historical people that walked through there and how I was touching the same land that they did. It was amazing to feel the way that the Indians did who lived there, and the whole time I could imagine them walking around going on with their day. It gave me a spiritual sense of power that I have rarely felt.
