Walker Riley "Healing Through Wilderness"

While working on my annotative bibliography project, I came across an article titled Healing Through Wilderness. It talked about a study done in the 1960s that used different therapeutical treatments and techniques within the wilderness. It basically found changes in awareness which was thought because people had a chance to know them self more and experience wholeness within themselves. The article describes wilderness and how it can effect an individual due to the time spent in solitary and the power nature can have on someone.

I found this article very interesting because I personally believe that wilderness can effect someone very easily, especially if long periods of time are spent in nature. When I have spent time in the wilderness alone, it gave me a lot of time to think about myself and anything that wondered into my head. It's so quiet and peaceful in the wild that I could only hear my thoughts and nothing else. This is how I can see the study changing people just by spending time in the wilderness alone. It allows one to know them self much better because it gives time to think about everything in life. This study is very interesting and I fully believe in the change that it describes.
