Victoria Hinz "The Noland Trail 1"

The night before our class trip to the Nolan Trail I sprained my foot. I wasn't able to join the class on the walk, so I did it by myself. I'm sure my experience was a little different than everyone else. I did not have a guide or other people to interact with. It was just me and the trail. I liked being out there alone. It was an overcast morning and their were not many other people out. I got to walk the direction I wanted and stop when I saw something interesting. As I started walking it did not take long for something to catch my eye. A sign that read "Keep the "Wild" in wildlife." It was a sign telling people on the trail not to feed the animals. This sign was most likely talking about not feeding the ducks. I walked closer to the lakes edge and I saw pieces of bread. A lot of bread. The sign was right behind me, and yet there was food for the ducks right in front of me. Someone obviously is not following the rules. As I looked around the area more closely I saw a large mound of popcorn kernels, more food for the animals of the trail to eat! I came up with two reasons for the abundance of food along the lake; 1. so many people are bringing food to the ducks that they cannot eat it all and its just piling up or 2. the animals are getting enough food in their natural habitat and they do not need to eat the food humans bring. I am really hoping that the ducks are getting the majority of their food from the wilderness that surrounds the trail and the lake, instead of the bread that people are trying to feed them.
