Ryan Wilson, Mask of the Holy

Recently we have been discussing the ordinary as the mask of the holy. This does not make sense to me. The only support for this conjecture is the argument that it cannot be disproven. If one is to argue that everything you see is actually hiding a holy entity beneath, one must also be able to argue that there could be any number of things hidden beneath the ordinary. I propose that there are big pink-half elephant half-penguin gods hidden beneath everything that is ordinary. There is no more evidence to support this conjecture than there is for the former. Sorry to be such a Debbie downer, but the most reliable knowledge can be obtained only by what is observable. Even if this observable world turns out to be of lesser importance, more can still be known about this observable world than what cannot be observed.
