Lane’s second axiom of sacred place says that “the person makes the place sacred.” I take this to mean that it is a place you are familiar with enough to know, yet equally unknown to keep it interesting. One place in particular continues to affect me, which is a baseball field. For me it symbolizes my childhood, I played baseball for 13 years of my life. The one where I played little league I hold especially dear to my heart because of all the memories I have on that field, memories with the game and memories of all my friends. Some of whom still keep in touch, and others whom lost I lost contact with. It just goes to show you that a place doesn’t have to be organic for it to be sacred. It is all about the feelings you bring to the place.
