Kyle Tobin Turner Liminality
Turner describes being in a liminal state as ambiguous because people pass through a cultural realm that has few or none of the attributes of the past or coming state. I feel as if this liminal state is rather hard to reach because there is no exact explanation on how to encounter liminality. Reaching a liminal state would be more valid if someone has proven that there are techniques to pass through this cultural realm. Turner talks about how experiencing the comradeship of a communitas could help liberate the mind to reach a liminal state. In addition, an individual undergoing a flow experience can help reach a liminal state. A flow experience is when a person enters a increased form of focus and all the surroundings become irrelevant. This flow experience is like being "in the zone" and a lot of athletes can relate to this when performing to their highest potential in certain games. I believe a flow experience is something that happens often and is realistic, but crossing a threshold of two worlds seems to be a little farfetched to me.
