Kyle Tobin Cold Fever

For a couple day in class we watched the movie Cold Fever, which I would have to say was one of the oddest films I have seen in my 20 years of being young. The movie was about a japanese business man that had to give up his tropical vacation to perform a ritual for his dead parents in Iceland. The main character throughout the movie experiences a lot struggles but even more weird things. Some struggle includes him getting on the wrong bus and then buying a car that breaks down a number of times and leaves him stranded on a piece of ice. The oddest thing in the movie was when the main character was stranded because his car broke down and a fairy popped out of who knows where and screamed really loud to fix his car. I feel as if the director of the movie threw that in there just to make his movie different because only a weird mind could want to incorporate something like that. The main character does face a lot of hardship and struggle throughout the movie, but it is all that, that makes his ritual experience at the end of his journey even more sacred. I feel that throughout the movie the main character experienced a lot of luck and him seeing the screaming fairy might of been him reaching a liminal state.
