Joey Voboril "Moses Demonstrates Otto"

Moses demonstrates otto very well in the exodus chapter of the Old Testament. He experiences a heierophony experience on Mt. Sinai with the burning bush. He asks for God’s name and he replies, “I am that I am.” The second time he asks to see God’s face and he is told that no one can see his face and live. God says he will show is back side. Keep in mind, showing your backside to someone is considered dirty, disrespectful, and low simply because it is the least of all the parts of your body. So for God to show the absolute lowest part is important. He basically says even my backside is too much for you to handle. He told Moses to hide in a cave and look out as He walked by. Moses forever glowed after seeing the back side of God. He had to wear a veil because other people could not look at him. This story blew me away. What an incredible experience that must have been. What a great analogy to describe the glory of God to the lay man.
