Austin Kaseman "Liminality"

Liminality is something I've never thought about or pondered in every day life. Learning that it basically means "in between two places" had my brain thinking of all different scenarios that this could apply to. My first thought is probably the most obvious example of liminality: Purgatory. Purgatory, in my opinion, is the ultimate definition of spiritual liminality. It's the state of one's soul in between heaven and hell after the person dies. I figured there was a word for that state of being, but never knew it until professor Redick lectured about it. His examples made me realize that liminality can be applied to a lot more things than I would have originally thought. We go through numerous stages of liminality every day of our lives.
