Austin Kaseman "Communitas - Roommates"

I completely agree with Turner's definition of Communitas. There is definitely an unspoken bond certain people or groups have with one another that brings the people closer. In a sense, I feel that the bond we share with our roommates or close group of friends can be considered a sense of Communitas. Although we had to search for these people with similar likes and hobbies, our living situation has created an unspoken bond between us all. Within my suite there is no hierarchy or structure. We all feed off each other and do as the other does. Because we in such close quarters to each other, and have to spend so much time together, we develop an unspoken form of communication that others don't understand. We have our own style of communication that can't be used in public, because others would not catch on. I don't think people necessarily have to connect spiritually to have a sense of communitas. It just depends on how close, connected, and similar you are to the person.
