We had the opportunity to have class at the Nolan trail and that was quite a treat. This has been the first class where I have ever had the ability to enjoy class outside. The trail certainly is an asset this campus enjoys so I was thrilled to hear that we would be spending the day on the trail. I thought it was awesome that the professor had his pack on and in a “ready to go” attitude. It definitely set up a fantastic atmosphere for the class. As we walked we learned that the crab grass actually tasted like onion/garlic. That was super interesting. We looked at different formations in the woods and tried to play detective. Instead of trying to just say the first thing that came to our minds, the professor challenged us to listen to what the situation was telling us. By using simple clues and observations and keeping an open mind we would be sure to find a reasonable answer. We say a downed tree which we tried to determine the cause and origin of its separation, which was super interesting. We kept walking and I learned that dandelions are actually delicious so I’m excited to try some of those next time I see them haha. We also were on the look out for massive turtles. All in all it was a beautiful day and such an enjoyable day. I learned much more that day as far as showing up and shutting up and listening, and its value is unmatched.
