Kyle Tobin Lanes Four Axioms

Belden Lanes first axiom states that a sacred place is not chosen, it chooses. I feel this axiom is easy to understand because it sets a basic foundation for the next three axioms to build on. I agree that one can not choose a sacred place and that a sacred place chooses an individual because the word sacred would become overused and start to lose meaning with numerous, random places becoming sacred. Lanes Second axiom states that a sacred place is ordinary, ritually made extraordinary. I feel this axiom is true because it is the experience and actions that occur at a place that makes it sacred and not the landscape alone making it sacred. Lanes third axiom states a sacred place can be tred upon without being entered. This axiom is a little more confusing because the way it is phrased causes me to interpret it any different ways. I feel this axiom would be harder to prove than the first two because showing or telling someone that a place is sacred to them even though they haven't been there is hard to to believe. Lanes fourth axiom state that the impulse of sacred place is both centripetal and centrifugal, local and universal. I strongly agree with this because in life there is always something pulling you towards your destiny and then there are forces that are pushing you way from your destiny.
